Vassiliki Bay & Lefkada Island
The two ports are Lefkada Vassiliki and Nidri. There is a ferry link Basilica – Kefalonia – Ithaca Nidri – Ithaca – Kefalonia. Buses run regularly from Lefkada in Vassiliki and from Vassiliki in Nidri – Lefkada and all the villages of Lefkada. Lefkada, characterized as the “mainland” island, because it has easy access from the coasts via a floating bridge that will impress you. It took its name from the white, cape Lefkata (or Cape Duchy or Sappho’s Leap) located at the southernmost tip of the island, with towering steep white cliff, there was also the position of the Achaian League – Mycenaean temple of Apollo (one of the archaeological evidence for the view that Lefkada was Homer’s Ithaca).
The island is separated from the mainland by a narrow channel (as reffered that opened Leleges the first residences of the Island and the ancient years opened the Corinthians ). United with the mainland by bridge, so you can reach any part of Lefkada Greece to the car without ferry-boats. You can reach Lefkada by plane and navigate to your destination by car, bus or taxi.
Vassiliki is on the south side of the island opposite, Kefalonia and Ithaki. It is a picturesque resort area south of Lefkada.
